About
Farshid Farrahi, MD
I'm an embodiment coach, integrative psychiatrist, and facilitator with Open Floor International. I was in Open Floor’s first training cohort in 2016. I've been practicing meditative inquiry, exploration of the psyche, and mindful movement for 15+ years. I’ve taught Open Floor classes regularly which I refer to as Dance Alchemy. I also co-developed a program in San Francisco for parents and teens with trauma, that integrates core movement resources with mindfulness-based emotional intelligence.
I've been dancing for as long as I can remember, thanks to an older sister who loves dance and the cultural pressure of Persian dinner parties. My paternal grandmother is from an indigenous Iranian tribe, and both she and my dad are storytellers. My dad's love of poetry transferred, and I enjoy reading and reciting Sufi and other poetry. I've written two screenplays which incorporate themes of love, freedom and the resilience of the oppressed. And of course, dancing!
I am delighted to share my passion for embodiment, Soul poetry, and music with you all, and I look forward to supporting your passion and purpose.
The modalities of Soul Alchemy combine somatic movement, attuned facilitation, and embodiment coaching to help you reach your full potential. Drawing on experience in psychiatry and indigenous traditions, Farshid creates personalized programs that can include dance, ritual, and health guidance.

I had been yearning for a next evolution in healing, beyond the realm of therapy; I wanted a space where my spiritual practices, rituals, body, and mind could all meet for council with a guide. Enter Farshid: a wise, gentle, deeply attuned guide who weaves together these different elements skillfully, intuitively, and with keen attention to the emergent dynamics moment to moment in the sessions and within the relational field between practitioner and client and the broader energetic field. This work is a spelunking into the subtle, inner world with Farshid to accompany you with a headlamp on, is a true gift. I’m emerging with more clarity, wisdom, self-compassion, and relational navigational skills.

Farshid is a seasoned and gifted embodiment coach. His approach is unique and unlike any other healing work I’ve experienced. If I had to give it a label, it felt like a medicine journey minus the medicine. The ceremonial container that Farshid held gave me access to deeper layers of my subconscious. I was able to gain greater insight into issues that I’ve felt ’stuck’ around in traditional talk therapy. After the session ended, Farshid took the time to recommend practices to try at home to continue the work that we started. I felt held and supported through every step of the process. If you are interested in addressing a deeply rooted attachment wound, or getting to the core of an issue in a powerful yet gentle way, this approach may be supportive for you. I give Farshid my highest recommendation.

Farshid is an absolutely gifted facilitator. He created an incredibly healing ritual to help me and my father reconnect after years of interpersonal struggle and estrangement. From the clear preparation in our intention setting meetings, to the sacred space plant medicine ceremony he led so beautifully, to the guided integration session, I felt held and supported every step of the way. With Farshid's coaching, my father was able to slow down his usual defensive reactions, listen more intently, and communicate with me in an intentional way I've never experienced before. If you're looking to alchemize and transform your own personal or interpersonal patterns, I would highly recommend Farshid as a skillful, thoughtful and open-hearted guide on any journey.

Diversity and Equity
It’s no secret that many embodiment communities have not yet reached and been inclusive of the individuals that most need them, folx who have been marginalized because of our heritage/ancestry, gender, sexual orientation, financial resources or other aspects of identity. Soul Listening seeks to remedy that by offering sliding scale options, work exchange, and an explicit call to ALL.
Diversity Statement
We hold pluralism to be inherently of value, and invite adults and youth (14 and over, with parent), of all races, ethnicities, physical abilities, spiritualities, socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientations, all along the gender spectrum, to build community with us.
May all beings be joyful, well, and free!
Economic Model
Based on the principle of Sacred Reciprocity (ayni) and Generosity Practice (dana), you are invited to pay exchange energy at the level where your pocket’s resources meet your heart’s desired to contribute. For movement classes and worskshop, this means paying at one of 3 tiers or doing work exchange. For psychedelic coaching packages, this means a m equitable general rate, with discounts for paying in full – as well as a few sliding scale slots.
